[Residents of the City who happen to be checking out the network around this time will hear a very loud **thump** as a teenage boy suddenly lands where there was no teenage boy a moment ago.]

Oof...what?

[There are a few moments of silence and shuffling as Roxas feels around to make sure he's solid. He's as surprised to be as he is surprised to be here in particular.]

I'm just me again...

[There's a swift intake of breath as he spots the communication device. When he speaks again, it's something others are meant to hear.]

Hey, City. I'm back. I don't know how long it's been...but it feels like a long time.

My name is Roxas. I guess I should say "it's nice to meet you" if I didn't know you before.

[A brief pause.]

...Sora? Are you still here?

[ Both brows raise and Sora nods, sets the twig down again, even though each time he only picks it up. ] You could, I mean if you wanted to. There's three rooms and I only use one of them. [One was Riku's, way long ago, and then after that, Namine's. Head tilted, Sora adds, ] Well, it's me and two cats. Technically.

Sounds kind of lonely.

[ He leans back, sinking his fingers into the sand. The idea of living with Sora is kind of appealing, but weirdly, a little scary at the same time. ]

Can I think about it?

[ Thinking about that a moment, Sora doesn't deny it but he has a tendency to look on the bright sides of things when he can, so he simply says: ]

It's okay.

[ To the second thing though, Sora nods quickly, not wanting to box Roxas into anything he might ultimately prefer not to. ]

Sure. Take your time.

[ With a laugh, he adds, waving his device briefly, ] You know how to reach me.

It's not that I don't want to be around you or anything. I do.

[ He smiles, feeling a little awkward now but still comfortable with Sora, more than he'd ever have expected. More comfortable than he's ever been with almost anyone. ]

It's just a lot to handle all at once. Feels like just about everything's changed.

[ Sora nods again but this one is more natural and he looks from Roxas back to the ocean, rubbing the back of his head thoughtfully, the other hand drawing through the sand. ]

It has. Kind of..knowing everything you do now...that makes sense to me.

But I mean it. Take your time. My door's always open, or...not literally but you're welcome any time.

Even if you stay somewhere else. Riku and Kairi and I - we never lived together but we saw each other every day.

[ He says this as if to convey that there are any number of options open to them, that they don't need the compounded time of living together even if it could also be fun. It's up to Roxas, and he's good with that, prefers it even. ]

I just need some time to let everything sink in.

[ It's not necessarily what Sora meant, but it feels good to be compared to Riku and Kairi. To be someone that important to him. ]

But I will come by, for sure.

[ He can't help but grin at the second part, laughing for a moment. ] I should learn how to make carrot cake.

Carrot cake? Wha— [ But then it catches up to him, rising through the tide of memories. ] Ha! Yeah, sure.

[ Still chuckling to himself, he gets to his feet, brushing the sand off his pants before offering his companion a hand up. ]

Hey, Sora. I meant what I said before, you know.

You do make a good Other.

[ Sora accepts the offered hand and he's still holding onto it when Roxas reiterates his words from - what to Sora - was along time ago. His chest tightens a little, and maybe that's actually his heart. Roxas has his own, which makes Sora happier than he can say but he wonders if the blonde feels the same sort of twinge, like someone wrapped a hand around it while it's still beating just to check if it's there, if it's real. It is. They are.

He thinks he's very lucky, for all the obvious reasons, but for some of the reasons he never would have even thought of without the opportunities this City has given him, still gives, and somehow 'grateful' doesn't quite cover it but it's the only word he can think of. When he smiles at Roxas this time there's a pause embedded in it, something closer to understanding threading it all together. ]

I'm glad you think so.

You're good too. [ Is the quick addition but no less honest, no less genuine, as he continues, ] You're great.

[ Roxas is a lot of things of course. 'Great' is just one of them. ]

[ He hauls Sora to his feet and maybe it's silly to feel glad that he can do something for him, even this tiny thing, but he'll just have to be silly then.

He ducks his head at Sora's words, but he can't feel too shy. They've been the same person; there's only so much they can hide from each other. And he's not embarrassed to have Sora think well of him. ]

Come on. Let's walk back together.

Yeah.

[ He nods and gives Roxas' hand a squeeze before he lets go, brushing off the sand from his clothes and shins, figuring there's some in his shoes too but he can shake those out later. The walk back is uneventful and Sora spends most of it thinking of different things he and Roxas can do while they're both here - living together or not.

At the top of the list is to explore. He's thinking it might be fun to check out the beach, any of the caverns and things. But really they could just dig around in the forest too. Most things end up being mini adventures of sorts when you put your mind to it. ]
