[There’s a long pause and some hesitant breathing before a teenage boy speaks. Maybe he’s too confused to speak at first. Maybe he knows he’s not supposed to interact with people in other worlds. Maybe he’s just really shy.]

I’m not supposed to be here. I have to get back or I’m going to be in trouble. I’m probably going to be in trouble anyway.

Can someone tell me what this wo—what this place is called? ...please.

[ SCREECHING HALT, those words, as he notices the thread above. ]

Wait---wait! You can't...

[ ...confusion, as Sora is faced outside of mere pondering with the fact that he just doesn't know anything about his other half's past, not enough. He needs someone to fill in the blanks, but there are maybe too many of them... ]

...that other guy, the one you talked to first, Xemnas. Don't wait for him. You should leave. It's not safe.

[ and Sora isn't a complete doof....so he realizes he might not be listened to and he's already taken off running to hope he can get there first. it doesn't occur to him that whatever happens here, back home things will still go as they did...what he has in mind now is only that Xemnas=bad news and Roxas....well he doesn't understand enough to say he 'knows' anything but he does know Xemnas will lie and try to control the other keyblade wielder, and that's reason enough to try to cut him off at the pass.... ]

[What. What? This person knows Xemnas? He's acting like he knows him? This is really confusing. He's never really talked to anyone but those Twilight Town kids and the genie guy and this person doesn't sound like either of them, even though he sounds a little familiar.

Confusion is bad. And he'd really rather be back at the tower having ice cream with his friends or even just napping back at the castle. Hello, frustrations.]

But what about everyone back home? I just left Axel back in Twilight Town—they're gonna wonder where we are!

They will not. This place is in a sort of temporal stasis. They'll barely notice we were gone.

Well, that's good, I guess.

[He doesn't really understand that. Like, at all. But it's good to know Axel and Xion won't be freaking out.]

Xemnas, there was this guy talking on this thing. [Shakin' the communicator whatsit.] He knew our names.

[ He has to take a second, regroup. Okay Sora, think. Basically you've unsettled him, upset him, even, which is understandable but wasn't the original aim. Think. What to say. What to do. Well he's already running to the fountain.

Somehow he's worried he won't get there in time, but then he's gotta wonder: in time for what? All he knows for sure is that he doesn't want Xemnas playing his weird games here too, but how does he explain that to someone who doesn't even know him?

And moreover, to someone Sora himself doesn't even know, not really. It's all half-glimpses and feelings and nothing concrete... ]

Relax, you're not in trouble...you're just in the City. Okay, that's not exactly a good thing, but.

[ a sort of sheepish laugh, but it's short, apologetic even ]

Uh, sorry. I know it's weird. I guess I should've started with that.

[ except he thought you knew him, but then, there is that wonky business of TIME and stuff ... ffff ]

[ pause ]

You're in a place called 'The City'....and it's sort of like...uh...[ a hmmmm sound ] ...if you think about all the different worlds and kind of mashed them together---no not really, but if you had a bunch of people from each one meet up. That's the kind of place this is.

That's how I know you....and that's how I know Xemnas.

I'm from the future.

[ Yeah, because THAT'S going to go over really well..../derp ]

[There's a pause as Xemnas takes a glance at his own device, and then a nod.]

He is the reason we generally prefer to keep to the shadows. You see, he has learned of that which we do, and he fears it. Thus, he lashes out at us, twists the truth to suit his needs and uses that false truth to turn people against us.

[A pause]

He may try to sway even you, but you must recall that he speaks twisted truth and half-lies. He is a serpent, clad in a beautiful form.

Well...not exactly. You can't really leave, and sometimes it likes to mess around with us, but overall, it could be worse...unless you wanted to leave.
