2.6;

You know...I really don't get people sometimes. I was in the store earlier buying some ice cream, and these ladies in the freezer section were talking about how they were "totally breaking their new year's resolutions" by buying their fudge ripple.

Except new year's just happened. It hasn't even been two weeks! I didn't even know that was something people were supposed to do…does everyone make a resolutuion? Is that normal? I never thought about it. I guess this is the second year I've had the chance to make one, but I wasn't thinking about that kind of thing last year.

Seems early enough I could still make one, but if everyone just breaks them, I'm not going t bother.

Seems like the thing to do is to make a resolution so big that you don't dare break it.

Never really held with them myself, really. Not for a new year, anyway. New year by whose count?

That seems like a lot of pressure, though.

Uh...the City's?

That's the idea. It provides motivation.

Sure, but why use theirs? How many people, do you think, count their years like they do here? Or left in summer and arrived in winter?

I dunno. It's a new year because it was January 1. That's when years start.

Well, for you, sure. Some civilizations, it's the middle of March or October or some month you've never heard of. Been to too many new year celebrations to count.

Yeah, but it's still a new year here. I think you'd get a lot of funny looks if you tried to celebrate it here this summer.

Perhaps, but if it makes sense to you, then why not?

...I can't think of a reason.
