[There’s a long pause and some hesitant breathing before a teenage boy speaks. Maybe he’s too confused to speak at first. Maybe he knows he’s not supposed to interact with people in other worlds. Maybe he’s just really shy.]

I’m not supposed to be here. I have to get back or I’m going to be in trouble. I’m probably going to be in trouble anyway.

Can someone tell me what this wo—what this place is called? ...please.

There is no castle here. You could not RTC even if you wished it.

Why not? This is really confusing.

There's this fountain. And some people nearby, but I'm trying to stay out of sight.

[He needn't wait too long - after a moment or three a portal opens up nearby, and Xemnas steps on out.]

[He's gonna look sharp now, not exactly standing to attention but close enough. Xemnas is the boss, but more importantly, he's familiar. And most importantly for Xemnas, Roxas is still very much dressed in Organization gear.]

I don't understand. You just—why can't we RTC?

It is an effect of this world. We cannot leave it, even by such means as I have just utilized.

But what about everyone back home? I just left Axel back in Twilight Town—they're gonna wonder where we are!

They will not. This place is in a sort of temporal stasis. They'll barely notice we were gone.

Well, that's good, I guess.

[He doesn't really understand that. Like, at all. But it's good to know Axel and Xion won't be freaking out.]

Xemnas, there was this guy talking on this thing. [Shakin' the communicator whatsit.] He knew our names.

[There's a pause as Xemnas takes a glance at his own device, and then a nod.]

He is the reason we generally prefer to keep to the shadows. You see, he has learned of that which we do, and he fears it. Thus, he lashes out at us, twists the truth to suit his needs and uses that false truth to turn people against us.

[A pause]

He may try to sway even you, but you must recall that he speaks twisted truth and half-lies. He is a serpent, clad in a beautiful form.

Fears it? But I thought building Kingdom Hearts was a good thing...why would someone not want us to have hearts of our own?

[Someone who looks like a snake? ...a pretty snake? That's hard to imagine.]

So he doesn't know me? But how...?

He believes that we do not deserve to be complete. He fears what we might do with what we've collected.

He knows of you. He know all of us, to an extent. But that is all. The rest is lies. He intends to create strife within our ranks and let that bring it down.

He is not to be trusted.

[But just as he's about to step through the portal, someone shouts his name in a voice he last heard over the device.]

Okay.

[And with that, he's through, far and away from whatever happens at the fountain.]
