[There’s a long pause and some hesitant breathing before a teenage boy speaks. Maybe he’s too confused to speak at first. Maybe he knows he’s not supposed to interact with people in other worlds. Maybe he’s just really shy.]

I’m not supposed to be here. I have to get back or I’m going to be in trouble. I’m probably going to be in trouble anyway.

Can someone tell me what this wo—what this place is called? ...please.

Roxas?!

Roxas, is that you?

[Could that possibly be relief/cheerfulness to see him? NAAAAAAH. Okay maybe.]

[OMG HE'S HAPPY TO SEE HIM- Wait. Roxas is never happy to see him. Even figuratively speaking.] Where are you now?

Uh—I don't really know this place yet...

[ooc; er, would you prefer to say he made it back to the apartment or that this thread takes place in the elastic pre-portal period?]

Are you by the fountain?

[OoC: omg, I must have missed this notif somehow. Um, whichever you want?]

I was, but Xemnas came and got me. I'm in this room somewhere now—uh—an apartment?

[ooc: I think lj might be ninja-sniping the occasional notif, I've lost a couple. Went with this for further o_O of Demyx.]

Wait- his apartment?

[ooc: spontaneous action is GO. I figure he's just been sitting in place, waiting for Xemnas.]

As Demyx stepped out of his room, he immediately started turning his head this way and that. And then he got into the common area, where he started shouting.

"Roxas!" Well, no one ever said that subtlety was his strong suit. "You're in my apartment!" Although, the first and only time that had happened before, was when Demyx had been a zombie. He didn't like remembering that, but this was definitely not like last time.

Roxas looked up sharply, startled away from his communication device thing by the familiar voice. "Demyx!" Quickly, he set it aside and stepped forward. He could look at it again later.

"I am? I didn't know anyone else was here. Xemnas sent me here while he took care of stuff. He said we can't RTC."

"Yeah! There's me, the superior, Lexaeus, and- well, you, now." Took care of stuff? Well, he did stuff during the day, right? Anyway, it's not like it could be anything too weird, right? He also didn't bother mentioning Sora. Anyone else meant from the Organization, not people they knew back home, that would be weird. He shook his head, "Yeah, we can't go back home, but we can still use portals inside of the City. Not that I'd go back, anyway. It's pretty cool here!"

"Lexaeus?" Roxas' eyes grew even wider. "Lexaeus is here? How? I thought they all got wiped out at Castle Oblivion!"

This place...what was with this place? Even the worlds with talking furniture and genies and bossy satyrs were normal compared to here. "I don't understand this world," he said. "I do want to go back. Me and Axel just finished having ice cream and Xemnas says they won't notice we're gone, but I'll notice."

"Well, yeah, but that's what the City can do. It makes dead people alive again. That's how I'm here. I've met a couple other dead people here, too." He said this conversationally, not realizing that Roxas didn't know that he was dead. He knew he was from earlier in time than he was, but it was something that he was used to now.

"When you're here, time doesn't pass back home. I don't know how, but it's true. So yeah, it could be a long time for us, but they won't notice. But hey, look on the bright side, no missions!"

"How you're here?" Roxas didn't understand that. Demyx had been just fine the last time he'd seen him, and he couldn't imagine him allowing himself to get into a tough enough fight that he could die. Either way, he didn't like the idea.

"I guess...that's good, that he can be here again. Because we're still comrades, right?" He sighed. "No missions, really? But what do you do with all the time?"

"Yeah, when the-" Oh. Okay, he remembered now. He was pretty far behind the times. Maybe he shouldn't mention the kid now? Probably not. After all, the reason why he died was because he was trying to get Roxas back. Maybe if he mentioned it, it would trigger something that he didn't want. "There was a really bad mission."

He grinned a wide grin. "Yeah! I work in a music store, and I talk to people- they're really nice here. And oh! Roxas, guess what? I'm in a band now! With my sitar."

It must have been a really bad mission. Maybe he and Demyx weren't friends like he and Axel and Xion were, but Roxas still didn't like the sound of that. But Demyx seemed to be handling it okay...

"Really? Xemnas lets you?" He blinked in surprise. "What about the Organization?"
